Referee Section

The GGHA plays by similar rules as other associations including the OMHA. However there are some rules that are different that are highlighted below.

Curfews Explained

Printer Friendly Copy....or....Section 17 of LLFHL Rule Book

All games for rep teams must have a curfew noted on the gamesheet for regular season and exhibition games. There will only be few exceptions to this rule in the season when it comes to Provincial Playdown games or certain playoff games. You will be clearly notified when a curfew does not apply.

Key Points of the rule are listed below. For the actual section from the LLFHL, please see Section 17 of the LLFHL Rule Book

  1. The game sheet must have a curfew time listed on with both teams initials to acknowledge the curfew time. The curfew is generally listed in the "Other Section"
  2. The Curfew should be based on the official timepiece. It can be designated by a clock on the wall or a watch held by the timekeeper. Be aware that the arena clocks are not always the correct time. Sometimes a watch or the clock on a cell phone is a better option
  3. The timekeeper will be responsible for sounding the horn when the curfew is reached by the official timepiece. The game can't proceed past the curfew.

Other Notes

In order for the curefew to be effective, we must ensure that each game is started quickly and you adhere to the start of game procedure.

Coaches are notified weekly on what curfew time they are allowed to print on the gamesheet. In an effort to get games in, we will allow them to write in a slightly later time if we have a practice scheduled after the game (ie: if the game is scheduled to end at 3:00pm, we will may list a curfew of 3:05)

PENALTY For Failure to Follow curfew Rule - If we fail to enforce the curfew rule correctly, the home team (Georgina) will forfeit the game.

Houseleague games or practices that are before a rep game must also end on time to ensure they do not shorten the following games.
